interesting Orb results
Masticore - 5 (no Razormane. the original had 5 instances of this word on the card, but it's reserve list... new one!)

Warhammer - 0 ( no )
Spikeshot - 2
Goblin - 9 (well, maybe one piece. and there might be BETTER equipment!)

Re: Scars of Mirrodin Spoiler
For the Locus result, I wouldn't be shocked if it ended up being another Omnath. Though if it were to be a land, I'd think it would end up having the Locus type, tap for colorless and tap for any color if you control another Locus.
The low number of Imprint surprises me. Returning mechanic, I'd have thought it would get more. Could be they're spreading it through the whole block.
The lack of Karn makes sense to me. They have to know it would be popular and sought after card no matter what it does. I figure if they're doing a new one, they're save it for the second or third set in the block in order to help drive sales.
And why is Trainee's showing up an interesting result? I think I'm missing something.

Re: Scars of Mirrodin Spoiler
Sure you have ALL seen this by now, but I want to know your feelings on this card.
Out of ALL the cards trying to be Counterspell (Cancel, Deprive, and Unified Will) this seems the best so far. Unified Will CAN be a close second if you run lots of creatures or can wipe their board while you still stand tall with tokens or something, but Stoic Rebuttal will be much easier to pull off; especially if they make an artifact land line, which A LOT of people are complaining and debating against, but I think it could still happen.
Metalcraft IS NOT Affinity, people need to remember that. Sure, I can drop an artifact land, pay 1 with that land to drop another artifact, and finish off with a zero CC artifact and have Metalcraft turn on, but it's not as easy as Affinity was. You could drop an artifact land, Ornithopter, Welding Jar, and a 1 drop artifact, now you can drop all the Frogmites in your hand, now you can drop all your Myr Enforcers, and finish off with Mycosynth Golem into 4 DSC and Platinum Angels. Of course I am over exaggerating how well Affinity worked, but I don't think I need to explain how well it did to you guys.
Metalcraft =/= Afffinity. Artifact lands will NOT break the set, sure you will be dropping 2 for a 4/4 or 4 for an 8/8 Trampler, but you'd eventually get there anyway without the artifact lands and you STILL need to pay for the spell, no dropping your hand for free.

Re: Scars of Mirrodin Spoiler
All I say is it's strictly better than Cancel, but still not that exciting. Would you rather jump through hoops to maybe have a Counterspell, or just play something like Deprive or Mana Leak and not have to contort your deck?

I forsee at least one big deck game ending in a spectacularly silly fashion because of this card. Very bad card while the Hippodrome is in play.
I've said it before, but the people in the Hippodrome crowd look like Skittles to me. Discuss!

Ah ... True fact is true! I'd use this over any of the Counterspell Wanna-Be cards, but my deck would still run Mana Leaks ... FOR THEY ARE OP! OP I SAY!

Isn't that the plane where everything is like super-small? (Kind of the reason behind the -5 ATK) Probably the right size for a skittle ... and now I have a crazing for skittles, but nothing small enough for the vend-o-tron machine TT__TT

using tilt-shift to make it look miniature was genius!
The Hippodrome
Plane - Segovia
All creatures get -5/-0, and are Skittles in addition to their other creature types.
Chaos - Whenever you roll ~chaos~, you may destroy target Skittle creature if its power is 0 or less.
Glint Hawk
W
Creature - Bird
Common
Flying
When Glint Hawk enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you return an artifact you control to its owner's hand.
Its eyes burned nearly blind by the Whitesun, it hunts by metallic gleam.
Illus. Dave Allsop #10/249
imagine a first turn Memnite, into Glint Hawk, bouncing Memnite, then replaying Memnite.
in Limited!
EDIT:
@misterorange Awesome 1st Turn Glint Hawk kill: Mox Pearl, Hawk; Pearl, Hawk #2; Pearl, Hawk #3; Pearl, Hawk #4; Lotus, Tendrils of Agony, kill you
looks like Evin Erwin was thinking a little bigger than me. i think Limited, not Vintage!
ALSO:
where are my goofy artifacts like Spellweaver Helix and Timesifter?!

The controller of target artifact sacrifices it, then reveals cards from the top of his or her library until he or she reveals an artifact card. That player puts that card onto the battlefield, then shuffles all other cards revealed this way into his or her library.
Polymorph for artifacts... yeah, I like it.

they keep changing the first part of this effect.
Polymorph was "Destroy..."
Mass Polymorph was "Exile..."
and this is "...sacrifices..."
i wish they'd be more consistent with similar weird effects.
Re: Scars of Mirrodin Spoiler
Ok, so you play your Precursor Golem and he summons his buddies. That's 1 Precursor Golem and two 3/3 tokens, for a total of 3 guys.
So after one Rite of Replication we've already shown we now have added five more Precursor Golems and 20 more 3/3 tokens. Adding to what we had first, that's now 6 Precursor Golems and 22 3/3 golem tokens, for a total of 28 guys.
What's that? You have Cast Through Time out and you're paying the kicker cost on your rebounded Rite of Replication? ZOMG!
So slowly, we get 5 copies of each of our 28 creatures in play. Getting the 3/3 tokens out of the way, that's 22x5 or an additional 110 3/3 tokens. For the 6 Precursor Golems, that's 5 more of each for an additional 30 Precursor Golems. Each of those golems gives us two 3/3 tokens, so that's another 60 3/3 tokens. Added to the previous 110, we have a total of 170 additional 3/3 tokens and 30 additional Precursor Golems, making for 200 more 3/3s to add to the ranks.
3+25+200=228 total guys 3/3 creatures.
You just played played Burst of Speed? All your creatures are hasty and attacking! And then you played Might of the Masses? THIS IS CRAZY HOW ARE YOU SO GOOD AT MAGIC?!
So you have +228/+228 to all your 3/3 creatures (all 228 of them). (228+3)*228 means you are attacking for a grand total of 52,668 damage. SURELY THIS IS THE GREATEST SWING EVER
"Lightning Bolt".
had to show you this... it's from MTGS. exciting!
Re: Scars of Mirrodin Spoiler
Nice.
Anthony and I were talking about Forked Bolt with a ton of them out. Target the first golem with both instances of Forked Bolt, then maybe split it for the rest.
You are right, it is a weird card.

I'm really starting to like the Myrs and the Smith-cycle. I think I might do a Myr sub-theme in my deck, if enough of them are printed in the next few blocks.

i know, right! i have a bonafide Myr deck from the first Mirrodin... using Blinkmoth Urn to make a ton of mana to dump into Myr Matrix. i'm gonna have to move stuff around in that one!
now THAT was a cool idea.
- Spoiler:
now, if your opponent casts the last card in their hand, can they choose to discard even if they don't have any cards in hand?

I would think the discarding is part of the cost, rather than an effect. If you don't discard the card, you don't get the effect. I could be wrong here.
