With a snap of my fingers, I can change the censorship on here so every time someone types "troll," it gets replaced with "Barrow Ghoul." I may just do that...

MidniteEffort wrote:c'mon Jim, that Rooftop Storm is AWESOME. don't tell me you won't be yelling "IT'S ALIVE" when you cast a huge Zombie off of that thing. how about Conspiracy? Artificial Evolution? i love it!!!
The flavor for the set is spot on, it's just that they really haven't revealed more than a handful of cards that I'd like to play in anything other than limited. I really can't see myself building a Rooftop Storm deck or slipping it into my Big Deck.
Re: Innistrad spoiler
Garruk is... pretty damn awesome. I really like how his 'Good' side needs some work to flip, but when you do it's totally worth it. Generating Deathtouch tokens, tutoring for creatures, and pseudo-Overrun are all excellent abilities.
He really reminds me of Sarkan the Mad, and I think this is a card I think I'm going to really enjoy.

Garruk Relentless // Garruk, the Veil-Cursed
3G
Planeswalker - Garruk Mythic Rare
When Garruk Relentless has two or fewer loyalty counters on him, transform him.
0: Garruk Relentless deals 3 damage to target creature. That creature deals damage equal to its power to him
0: Put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield.
3
//
{bg}
+1 : Put a 1/1 black Wolf creature token with deathtouch onto the battlefield.
-1 : Sacrifice a creature. If you do, search your library for a creature card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.
-3 : Creatures you control gain trample and get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of creature cards in your graveyard.
Illus. Eric Deschamps #181/264
I'd love to see what people who prefer Kamigawa-esque flip cards have to say about him. "Why couldn't they have just made him into a flip card..."
I like his "good" abilities more. An endless supply of 2/2 wolves, and a one time 3 point hit. Pretty solid.

BTW, anyone else notice how almost all the spoilings are official Wizards ones. Seems like they must have revamped their policies since the Great Godbook Leak of New Phyrexia.

I like that you can generate a few wolves for "free" which help protect him, then if you need to tutor, you can just kill something 1 or 2 power and flip him and tutor the next turn.
Also, regardless of this card's use, a double sided foil planeswalker i imagine is going to go for a fucking song.

Snapcaster Mage 1U
Creature - Human Wizard (R)
Flash
When Snapcaster Mage enters the battlefield, target instant or sorcery card in your graveyard gains flashback until end of turn. The flashback cost is equal to its mana cost.
2/1
Trust an invitational card to be insane, going to need a couple copies of this one for my various Big Decks.

So far we have:
Not too much Maro sneakiness so far.
A token-making sorcery which makes more creature tokens than any previous token-making spell (not counting X spells or spells that make a variable number)
- Spoiler:
- Army of the Damned 5BBB
Sorcery Mythic Rare
Put thirteen 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens onto the battlefield tapped.
Flashback 7{B}{B}{B}
Sometimes death comes knocking. Sometimes it tears down the walls.
Illus. Ryan Pancoast #87/264
An enchantment that could let you play all your creatures for free
- Spoiler:
- Rooftop Storm
5u
Enchantment Rare
You may pay 0 rather than pay the mana cost for Zombie creature spells you cast.
"Let those idiot priests tremble! A new era in unlife begins here and now. Oglor, raise the lightning vane!"
-- Stitcher Geralf
Illus. John Stanko #71/264
A two-mana creature that lets you make a 2/2 creature each turn for two mana
- Spoiler:
- Stitcher's Apprentice
1u
Creature - Homunculus Common
1{U}, {T}: Put a 2/2 blue Homunculus creature token onto the battlefield, then sacrifice a creature.
"Oglor create life, Oglor take it away. Oglor god! ... until Master return."
Illus. Johann Bodin #81/264 1/2
A planeswalker with five loyalty abilities

Re: Innistrad spoiler
* Many—and I'm talking more than a few—cards inspired by famous horror stories
Invisible Stalker = The Invisible Man
Civilized Scholar / Homicidal Brute = Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Elite Inquisitor or Slayer of the Wicked = Van Helsing (?)
Rooftop Storm = Frankenstein reference
Stitcher's Apprentice (Oglor) = Igor
Reaper from the Abyss = Grim Reaper
what we have left:
* A card based on a silver-bordered white card
* A spell that can deal 13 damage to multiple creatures for one mana (and yes, I mean 13 damage multiple times)
* A card that turns a loss into a win
* A card that lets you exchange your life total with something you've never been able to exchange it with before
Re: Innistrad spoiler
Blasphemous Act 8r
Sorcery - Rare
Blasphemous Act costs 1 less to cast for each creature on the battlefield.
Blasphemous Act deals 13 damage to each creature.
"Holy places are no longer sanctuary from death, and death is no longer sanctuary from anything." - Thalia, Knight-Cathar
lol, wut?

Re: Innistrad spoiler
Two really cool cards today:
Laboratory Maniac
2u
Creature - Human Wizard Rare
If you would draw a card while your library has no cards in it, you win the game instead.
His mind whirled with grand plans, never thinking of what might happen if he were to succeed.
Illus. Jason Felix #61/264 2/2
One of the only anti-mill cards (eldrazi, Elixer of Immortality, Gaea's Blessing). Certainly an improvement over Obstinate Familiar.
Avacyn's Pilgrim
g
Creature - Human Monk Common
{T}: Add {W} to your mana pool.
"Avacyn's protection is everywhere. From the holy church to the sacred glade, all that we see is under her blessed watch."
Illus. Jana Schirmer & Johannes Voss #170/264 1/1
I really like this card. I think it might replace Fyndhorn Elves in the cube.

Re: Innistrad spoiler
Yeah, the Maniac is pretty cool, I can see a lot of people building casual decks around him. I can also see a game go like this though...
Player 1- Cast Laboratory Maniac, then Archive Trap myself to mill the rest of my library
Player 2- Cast Shock...
Player 1- SHIT!

Re: Innistrad spoiler
So apparently, Divining Witch and Paradigm Shift are sold out because of Laboratory Maniac.
Re: Innistrad spoiler
Wizards really seems to be pushing copy effects recently:
Cackling Counterpart 1UU
Instant
Put a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of target creature you control.
Flashback 5UU
Cheaper than Clone, and at instant speed, but the copy is only a token of a creature on your side of the board. A very cool card though, I can't wait to see how people in our play group break this (like Steve and his EtB Big Deck).

Damn them. Why do they keep making Clone effects that I have to get?

Re: Innistrad spoiler
I like this card:
Bump in the Night
B
Sorcery Common
Target opponent loses 3 life.
Flashback 5{R}
It's not just the wind. It's not all in your head. And it's definitely something to worry about.
Illus. Kev Walker #92/264
Going on with what I said before, it will be really interesting if the set is not completely spoiled before the prerelease. I think it will spike up the attendance hugely, except by the douchey pricks on mtgsalvation who claim "it's a waste of time to go to the prerelease unless I know the whole set and it's good enough." It's win-win!

Am the only one who thinks Brimestone Volley is pretty good?
Brimstone Volley 2R
Instant - Common
Brimstone Volley deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
Morbid - Brimstone Volley deals 5 damage to that creature or player instead if a creature died this turn.
This seems really solid in limited and possibly even constructed worthy (since most players seem to enjoy getting 4 or more damage at instant speed for 3 mana) even with the Morbid clause.

Solid in limited in the same way that Volt Charge was. I'm not sold on constructed. I think Goblin Grenade is more reliable and efficient.

no. i'll take it in Limited, and some unimaginative knucklehead will throw 4 into another boring iteration of RDW.

Evil Twin
2ub
Creature - Shapeshifter Rare
You may have Evil Twin enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield except it gains "{U}{B}, {T}: Destroy target creature with the same name as this creature.
You can always tell the evil one by the dagger he's sticking in you.
Illus. Greg Staples #212/264 0/0
Besides being a decent card, this is about the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Bloodline Keeper // Lord of Lineage
2bb
Creature - Vampire Rare
Flying
{T}: Put a 2/2 black Vampire creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
{B}: Transform Bloodline Keeper.
Activate this ability only if you control five or more vampires.
//
Flying
Other Vampire creatures you control get +2/+2.
{T}: Put a 2/2 black Vampire creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
Illus. Jason Chan 3/3 // 5/5
Wow... Sangromancer sure got outclassed quickly. This is a stupid limited bomb that will wreck of gone unchecked. You'll probably win before you flip it.

Awesome, Think Twice is back. I love that card.
Also:
Past in Flames
3R
(Unsure whether it's instant or sorcery)
Mythic Rare
Each instant or sorcery card in your graveyard gains flashback until end of turn. The flashback cost is equal to its mana cost.
