Re: Innistrad spoiler
They look pretty interesting so far, but I think there's more than meets the eye to some of these new cards.
I like the enemy M10 lands a lot. Neat that they're fleshing out that cycle.
Nice, Ghost Quarter is back!
I'm really interested to see how this set plays.

Re: Innistrad spoiler
Im looking at the spoiler, and some of these cards are damn near unplayable.
I hope such specific mechanics dont bomb like the kamigawa block.

Yeah, a lot of the revealed cards are... pretty bad (like the blue Excommunicate with a 8cc flashback). We still haven't seen a lot of the uncommons though, and hopefully we'll get some better flashback cards that we can all enjoy.

look closer at the "checklist card".

and that, gentlemen, is the THIRD callback to Kamigawa.
as crappy overall as Kamigawa was, the flavor and storyline were top-notch (as this set looks to be), and Limited wasn't half bad. so i'm never worried. now if Dwarven Pony is reprinted, then we're in trouble. lol

This is disturbing since no other set in the past year has had unplayable cards!
Also, for context, think back on those awesome efficiently costed Flashback cards.
Deep Analysis
Chainer's Edict
Firebolt
Remember these beauties, though:
Ancestral Tribute
Bash to Bits
Dematerialize
Volley of Boulders
Most flashback cards have had insanely overpriced flashback costs (even Chainer's Edict is steep!).
Please no "sky is falling" 52 cards in...

in before ya.
it's funny though. i've realized that new Magic sets are never not fun. Limited is great, there are always great casual cards... the only people who worry are doing it wrong.
and i disagree with a lot of those cards listed. Horrifying Revelation is nearing to be banned in Type 15, Time Reversal and Omen Machine are really fun, Geosurge might be played some day, i've run Relic Putrescence to great effect in infect Limited decks... as long as Magic is around, fun will be had.

ok, how do you turn down the pitch on Maro's voice? hard to listen to.

I was going to say I must be blind as hell because I couldn't see it, but then I finally noticed the Garruk Relentless listing on that card.MidniteEffort wrote:intrinsic wrote:where is this transforming planeswalker?

Re: Innistrad spoiler
I was thinking about that, and I think they have to be. So lame for only one half to be.
Have to be, half to be? That was purely coincidental.

My guess this is the 'Cloistered Youth' mentioned in the checklist card.

word. the transformed form is, of course, Katy Perry.
Re: Innistrad spoiler
The full cycle of enemy-duals are now up, and I got to say I'm digging the names and flavor of them. Going to need a couple of them for my EDH decks.
Re: Innistrad spoiler
Oooh, Liliana:
Liliana of the Veil
1BB
Mythic Rare
+1: Each player discards a card
-2: Target player sacrifices a creature
-6: Separate all permanents target player controls into two piles. That player sacrifices all permanents in the pile of his or her choice.
3
Plus
Fiend Hunter
1WW
Uncommon
When Fiend Hunter enters the battlefield, you may exile another target creature.
When Fiend Hunter leaves the battlefield, return the exiled creature to the battlefield under its owner's control.
1/3
So a cheaper, slightly weaker Faceless Butcher. One thing I just noticed while copying it down is that the first ability is a "may" ability, which is sometimes relevant.
Two solid cube cards!

Re: Innistrad spoiler
People are already dismissing Lilliana, but I think she's really powerful, especially with Flashback and other graveyard themed decks. Plus I really like her ultimate.
Fiend Hunter is very good, a solid body and ability.

I'm starting to dig the viral marketing that Wizards is doing with this set. Apparently the last few articles on the Mothersite have hidden links to various email address, you email to them and get a bit of lore-related material back. The guys on MTGS have been collecting them:
