"Set aside all non-aura permanents exiled by Karn, The Exiled, then restart the game. Then put all cards set aside this way onto the battlefield under your control."
...now that's insane.
hey, uh, we're going to have to think hard about allowing this in Big Deck. getting all of the permanents would be fine alone; restarting the game is HELLA annoying in our huge roundtable games.
Yeah, even in a duel this could be really stupid (considering some of our duels can go 20-30 minutes if not longer). Then again, if someone can play Karn and protect him till he goes Ultimate they probably deserve to win.

anybody getting a Tarmogoyf vibe from this little guy?

I don't think it will be Tarmogoyf good, but I think it'll find a home in my artifact Big Deck.
Re: New Phyrexia Spoiler
granted, your opponent is not as likely to be helping you build this guy up, however every next Fiend you play will be as big as any other. additionally, every Fiend is scalable past a Tarmogoyf level, so its lack of "helpability" from your opponent is bolstered by the unlimited scalability of the Fiend in your deck... which is built to throw artifacts in the graveyard. so while i don't think it's as versatile as 'goyf, it sure can be as powerful in the right deck.

It might find a home in decks with Shrapnel Blast or in the SB against Affinity.

Artifact Creature - Horror

{PU}: Target spell or ability that targets only a single creature targets ~ instead.
({PU} may be paid for with either {U} or 2 life.)

How did I miss this guy? This is awesome. I can see this fucking up Big Deck and (probably more) EDH cards for years to come. It sure turns off my Pestermite combo!
And it's an 0/4 for 2. It's completely splashable. I love it.

The problem is though that the re-directed spell can only target the Spellspliter, which is great when dealing with enchantments and stuff but not-so-good when it's something like a Doom Blade. It's basically a Flag-Bearer.
Re: New Phyrexia Spoiler
Too true... if only there were a card that is totally dominating standard that could be nerfed by Spellsplitter...
Unless rulings say otherwise, that is. However, having a "free" answer to the above card seems pretty good to me.
EDIT: It seems unlikely this works.
This guy also scarfs down bolts.

Re: New Phyrexia Spoiler
I didn't think that Spellsplitter could re-direct equipment, since you can't legally equip an opponent's creatures.

yea, it doesn't work. associated rulings:
- Spoiler:
- 301.5b An Equipment is cast and enters the battlefield just like any other artifact. An Equipment doesn’t enter the battlefield attached to a creature. The equip keyword ability attaches the Equipment to a creature you control (see rule 702.6, “Equip”). Control of the creature matters only when the equip ability is activated and when it resolves. Spells and other abilities may also attach an Equipment to a creature. If an effect attempts to attach an Equipment to an object that can’t be equipped by it, the Equipment doesn’t move.
702.6a Equip is an activated ability of Equipment cards. “Equip [cost]” means “[Cost]: Attach this permanent to target creature you control. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.”
Re: New Phyrexia Spoiler
I still like the card a lot. Just the fact that for free you can redirect a bunch of stuff is really cool.

Maybe you can add Standard Bearer to your Cube then.

Really, Jim, you're going to attack a single card I like? Don't make me go back through the previous spoilers and list all the cards you gushed over.
And for the record, I am going to take you down with that card in Big Deck. Not the redirect ability. I'm going to give him +1/+0 and smack you silly.

Jim's not impressed.
this card is better than a Flagbearer because you choose what spell or ability gets shunted.

Aren't I allowed to hate occasionally?
But yeah, I really am enjoying the rest of the set, I can't wait to see what the rest of the Praetors do.

Surgical Extraction (P/B)
Instant
( (P/B) can be paid with either or 2 life.)
Choose target card in a graveyard other than a basic land card. Search its owner's graveyard, hand, and library for all cards with the same name as that card and exile them. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
Free Extirpate! (minus that whole important Split Second thing)

Swampwalk
At the beginning of your upkeep, return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, that player sacrifices a creature.
o0o0o new Reya + one-sided Abyss!
fun for my old reanimator, limited goodness, otherwise awful.
Re: New Phyrexia Spoiler
I'm liking the cards they previewed today, especially the metalcraft-themed Path to Exile.
Re: New Phyrexia Spoiler
I'm digging the Phyrexian mana pump spell. I'm gonna love using it as a surprise in Limited with an Infect deck. Hell, between that and Invigorate, I'm thinking a Legacy aggro Infect deck is starting to look more viable. Depends on if we get any good 1-drop Infect dudes.
I also liked hearing about the Splicers, if only for more interesting options for my token deck. Can't wait to see what the others do.
