@ The Video - I really hate that I don't go to these random Expos on the off chance that Wiz or Blizzard or some company gives away something early and free.

@ Ritual - 1R to gain RRR ... So you gain one red mana or two if you used a non-R source for the 1 ... Rite of Flame is better, but the Ritual is an Instant ... The problem I would see with making a color shifted Dark Ritual is that if two colors have it, why shouldn't all colors have it?

@ The Picture - As soon as I saw this I thought of one card with a similar image.



Notice how the pieces around the head are the same as the pieces in Memory Lapse. If it's not a reprint of Memory Lapse, its probably going to be a counter that doesn't send it to the discard. Maybe a reprint of Hinder or even Lapse of Certainty, which also has similar art work. Either way, I am calling a counter spell.

oh yea!!! duh. wow. i wonder what that could mean... the only problem is that it doesn't fit the name and number crunch on MTGS in blue (maybe white?), and the name doesn't really fit a Memory Lapse variant. hmm. vexing.

I can't think of it being anything else. It's gonna be a land, and its going to stop damage from an attacker. The way it goes about doing that may be different then Ith, but I think it will function the same.

I've been looking for DCI promo as cheap as possible and, aside from Sol Ring, Maze of Ith is the one I am really looking forward to getting. I got a Tormid Crypt promo which is in my big deck, so I am happy about that grab.

Basically what I predicted. A vanilla 4/4 for 5. It's actually not bad for its cost. Sure it lacks Flying, Haste, Trample, and it's not huge, but at 5 colorless mana its nicely balanced. At 5 mana the last vanilla creature we saw was Glass Golem which was a 6/2, so swapping 2 from pow to tou for a 4/4 seems like a fair and balanced trade for a much more playable vanilla creature.

I just love the Scry mechanic and a UB pauper deck will be doing great what with the new Owl and PreOrdain.

The Archon and Leyline of Punishment are also really cool. I just hope Platinum Angel gets new artwork. I'd love to see something new on this already beautiful card.

Meanwhile back at the bar, the guys looking up at a bee hive in the corner. It was a pretty ridiculous bee hive and Charlie was poking it with a broom handle, but he wasn't worried about being stung he was more worried about ruining the honey inside. He wanted to take the hive and move it to the basement so that they would always have delicious honey. It turns out it was a hornets' nest and the Charlie wasn't sure if they produced honey or not, but either way he figured there was something delicious inside and he wanted to keep it.

Back in my day, a Bee Sting cost you 4 mana and dealt 2 damage.

I think that blue leyline is the most powerful card in the set. It breaks magic as we know it. I can see decks built around mulling until they get it in hand, then playing a ton of draw spells at instant speed to win the game. This is a great way to abuse the draw 7 spell. I want as many copies of this as I can get my hands on.

On the latest episode of The Magic Show, Evan talked about just how good this card is. In U/W Control mirror matches it comes down to who gets the leyline out first. It can determine who wins and loses before the game even starts!

First turn Leyline, you might want to just scoop right there.

It is amazing in the mirror matches, but I think that it will spawn its own deck, and be so format warping that it will have to be banned. Start the game with a mull to 3. Leyline, island, ponder. Begin the game with leyline, play land, go. End of opponents turn, ponder, draw mana leak, stack land on top. Take next turn, draw land, pass. Mana leak threat. Draw another ponder on your turn.

Thats insane with just 3 cards in hand, imagine if you had more. Also, the format so far is getting pretty slow, so you might not even need the turn 2 mana leak, you could set yourself up for more draw spells instead. Also, eot Jace the mindsculptor, wrath of god, baneslayer, divination, grave titan. There is a reason in big deck that the person who plays vedalken orrey has the biggest target on their head. This effect is just broken.
