Whats everyone's plan? I'm going to try the Target approach, see if i luck out with paying MSRP.
If not, i may just skip the sets and buy the new singles. There are too many cards within the sets i dont want/need.

samesies. i have like 20 Targets and/or Walmarts between work and home to choose from.

Same here too. I'm somewhat torn, because I like supporting my local game store (I like supporting any local store over the big boxes). But I don't like my local game store to rape my ass. When Elspeth vs Tezzeret came out, 7th Dimension was selling it for $50. Instead, I waited until it showed up at Target and bought 4 for $20 each. If a local game store sold it at MSRP, I'd get it there in a heartbeat.

So the same with these. I'm pretty sure they'll be available abundantly at Target in a week or two.

I'm going to the Wizards comic convention in Philly on Saturday, so hopefully I can find some then for the MSRP. If not I guess I'll see you guys at Target.

gotta love the chains for one reason: blindness to obscure secondary markets.

gotta wonder too why these sit on the shelves for ages at Target and get sold out at chumped-up prices at the gaming stores.

Because gamers are narrow minded and not resourceful enough?
check that, many are too young to care about waiting 2 weeks to save $20-$30.

I just spoke with the toy inventory person at my local Target. She was completely unfamiliar with anything new from MTG being available for sale tomorrow.



Could be she is just uninformed, but Targets MAY not have this stuff on the shelf right away, FYI

Also,

Redcap's is holding a release event this weekend. The Commander sets will be available for purchase at MSRP, they are not gouging. Those who partake get 1 of 5 oversized promo cards of the 2 color new legendary generals that were created for this set.

I'll be going to the event at Alternate Universe. Going to buy all 5 decks so I get all 5 promos.

I know in Walmarts (and it may be the case in Target as well), the area with the sports cards and card game stuff isn't stocked by the store, it's stocked by an outside vendor. So the people who work there wouldn't have a clue about it.

Pottstown Target: 1 Political Puppets. guy said the same thing about a third-party supplier. he also said that there was someone else who came in looking for them.

Its raining, so i didnt ask the wfie to walk to Target.

Nothing at the Walmart near my office, I'll check some places later this evening.

Often I find they don't show up in the big box stores for a week or two. I am sure that they will be there in the coming weeks.

Same thing happened with EvT. Remember the glut that showed up afterwards?

Nothing at Target in South Philly, but i did spot a sign with a picture of a commander set on it and it said "Coming Soon"

Nothing at the three big box stores, though hopefully I'll find some tomorrow at the comic-con (if not some cheap cards if I'm lucky).

7th Dimension, around the corner from my house has all the Commander decks in stock and is selling them for MSRP. They're also having a launch party tomorrow at 1pm for anyone who wants to sleeve up and play one of them.

I've already begun upgrading the Political Puppets deck. I'm now calling... POLITICAL MASTER!

But yeah, we should get together for some Commander again soon, now that we're building these decks.

I wouldn't mind meeting up some EDH and other format games sometime soon again.
Though I do need to sit down and make some upgrades to my Karn deck, now that I've got a bunch of potential cards for it. I just need to figure out how far towards jerk I want to take the deck.

How about C&M next Sunday for some casual Magic? There's usually a good crowd of EDH players there anyway, so we could get a good multiplayer game going.
