Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
I'm not overly excited by it. The discard, while somewhat useful, just strikes me as meh.
And the land untapping has some potential, but only if you already had something to do with the mana. You're either going to need some instant speed things to dump mana into in response to the damage trigger, or you're going to have use it in the first main phase and not be able to gaurantee you'll connect to get the untap trigger. It just doesn't scream 'I need to hit someone' like the old Fire and Ice one does.
That said, it's a Sword and I'd use it if I had it. There's no reason not to.

Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
The G/B sword is very meh. I'm not a fan of discard to begin with, let alone a single discard and THEY choose the card they discard. Untapping lands, even all of them, is a bit under powered when it comes to having to deal combat damage first; can't even make the guy ping them like a Timmy to abuse it.
I'd much rather see it spitting out tokens and do something Black (Smother on dealing combat damage.)

Smother be a bit much, but giving a creature -2/-2 until end of turn might be pretty damn good.

BEST. COMMON. EVER.
Can go in any deck, costs 2 mana, and nets you a card when it comes into play and dies. And that's before you abuse it.

Reeeeeeallly?
Hear that sound? It's the sound of 3000 cards that actually do something vomiting in their grave(s).
Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
I'm still tempted to run it in my Artifact Big Deck, if nothing else to find a way to abuse it. Could work well with Glissa the Traitor and some kind of artifact sac outlet.
Other than that, it's just 2cc cycling at sorcery speed. Nothing too interesting...

Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
anyone notice the end of the name and number crunch?
ten spots at the end couldn't be for land in a small set! some unimaginative people are saying that they are 10 additional basic land, but that's uninspired. it's either some new card type or mixed breed. any thoughts?
144 L Contested War Zone (Land), Mirran
145 L Inkmoth Nexus (Land), Rare, Phyrexian
146 ?
147 ?
148 ?
149 ?
150 ?

Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
I feel like we would have heard some rumblings if it were a "new breed."
Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
So... Shatterstorm is now in green, and rare. I know they needed to make it rare for draft/limited, but it's gonna suck to open that.

Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
I do think that a shatterstorm is first pickable. That said, it will make excellent toilet paper after the tournament is over.
On the mystery 10 slots after the lands, according to mtgsalvation, they are basic lands with new art. Besiege-y art!

well, how do you account for this then? i'm at a loss. Inkmoth Nexus is certainly #145/155. that leaves for 10 lands alphabetically following "I". that doesn't seem like the correct margin for similar cards in a small set. how do you explain this!!! TELL ME

i will gladly trade you AN ENTIRE ROLL of toilet paper for all of your new Shatterstorms. premium stuff, no less! might be less chafing.
Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
If you put it in your Big Deck just to roll my artifact deck I will destroy you so hard...
Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
clever, R&D.
this thing sends your opponent 10% closer to a loss of each win condition.

I'm playing a 61 card deck to give R&D a big fuck you.
Errata: If playing big deck, this card mills 25 instead.

I like it A LOT. 2 to draw a card, goes towards metalcraft, and you can toss it pretty easily to draw another card. I'm sure there are other better commons, but I really don't care, this is the best common I have seen in a long time. Like I've said in the past, I like the cards no one else likes.

Return all cards from your graveyard to your hand. Exile Praetor's Counsel. You have no maximum hand size for the rest of the game.

Re: Mirrodin Besieged Spoiler
Yeah, just saw this. Move over Conflux and All Sun's Dawn as contenders for stupidest amount of card advantage. It does cost 8... but so does Conflux, a card in many of our big decks.

It's basically All Suns Dawn on crack. The triple green is a bit rough, but the effect is undeniablely powerful. Best part is, outside of Big Deck and some EDH decks, it's pretty much garbage and will probably quickly find it's way to the discount bin.

wow! for a second time, i echo Jim's fanboy reaction. this will go in my BD for sure. can you imagine? again, i'll stress the power of hand disruption and/or graveyard exile in Big Deck.

That what ya mean? Just watch Evan's expression when the other guy says 'Can't forget about the Titan Forge.' Evan looks like he wants to say 'What have I done ...' It's so great xD
