I so want this card for my artifact Big Deck, glad it's the pre-release promo. To bad Glissa is now a Phyrexian though...

Now I REALLY need to read the books. I wanna figure out why Glissa goes evil and I hope she turns back. She's awesome!

Just for reference.

New Glissa seems awesome. A 3/3 for 3 is decent. 3/3 first strike is great. 3/3 first strike deathtouch is awesome. And the last ability is just a great added bonus. There's a good chance this will find its way into the cube.

I like Thopter Assembly.

I like it even more in combo with Conspiracy (which replaces ALL types, so now your Thopters are and you can keep bouncing the assembly to make more and more tokens and abuse having multiple creatures IE. Elves)

Pierce Strider is going to be abused and win an assload of games for people.

I like the new card, Hero of Bladehold. Seems pretty decent, 4 for a 3/4 that pops out two 1/1s that auto-attack when she does.

IDK how I feel about Battle Cry. Kind of a weak ability. I guess multiples instances of it on small CC creatures would be cool, but it's nothing ground breaking or even that interesting. R/W maybe?

The Hero actually creates two 2/1's when it attacks, thats sick. And in limited, giving your attacking creatures an extra 1-0 for free is very very strong.

there is going to be a LOT of combat math in MBS-SOM-SOM.

I plan on shouting "Spoon!" every time I attack with a creature with Battle Cry.

If it helps break-up some of the archetypes we're seeing in SOM limited I'll be happy. This set really punished people who don't want to build Infect or Metalcraft decks, which is kind of a bummer to me.

There are a bunch of viable archetypes in this set. Granted, the nut Infect draw beats most of them, but there are a ton of flavors of metalcraft, Furnace Celebration, the blue flyers deck. If anything, this set punishes sub-optimal decks more than other sets.

Compare it to Zendikar. Where was the diversity there? The only linear theme was Allies, and it sucked.

I really hate the nuts Infect draw. Last night it was:

T1 - Fume Spitter
T2 - Plague Stinger
T3 - Plague Stinger
T4 - Tumble Magnet, GG?

so it came out today that whatever faction you choose for the prerelease determines which promo you get, either a starkly underdressed version of Hero of Bladehold or Glissa.

so which are you going to choose?

i'm definitely going with Phyrexia, based on my higher level of success drafting infect.

Phyrexia, so I can get a copy of the new Glissa.

I too am looking forward to getting a shiny Glissa.

The new ones are Battle Cry, Living Weapon, and the concept of "poisoned."

Also, there are a bunch of cards that demonstrate those mechanics, though nothing exciting.

I like the Living Weapon mechanic. It can be really obnoxious when you're topdecking at the end of a game, and you get the equipment, but no creature to go with it.

Finally, it is revealed that there will be infect creatures outside of black and green. They show this guy:

i REALLY like living weapon. you get a guy, then you get some equipment later. good design.

hey Dan, we get our second "destroy target creature" card in the block. looks like your Flesh Allergy is clearing up...

plus white infect, and the new "if opponent is poisoned" text.

Living Weapon - Really interesting ability. So far, I pay 1 for a 1/1, but when that dies I can toss his boost on to someone else. Plus, it counts as a creature spot as well as an equip. Very nice, very interesting, I like.

Battle Cry - After looking at this for awhile, I do like this. I think I said it was 'meh' before, but I do like it. It's a very nice mini boost to guys and can make or break a game. WTB card that is: 0/1 Battlecry, Unlimited

"Poisoned" - That rat seems REALLY good, especially since you only need 10 poison counters to die. I haven't played any games with the new Mirrodin meta, but games must start and end HELLA quick.

I look forward to this set, but I will probably just casually buy pack and singles after the set comes out.

Red Sun's Zenith deals X damage to target creature or player. If a creature dealt damage this way would be put into a graveyard this turn, exile it instead. Shuffle Red Sun's Zenith into its owner's library.

Is this a straight up replacement for Beacon of Destruction in the cube? Costs one more mana to do 5 damage, but is much more flexible, and also gets rid of pesky recurrable creatures.

This is awesome. Makes for stupid plays, like flash in Shimmer Myr, flash in Contagion Clasp. Jim, I imagine you'll be wanting this one. Get it at the prerelease; I'm sure it will be cheap.

There are more, but those are the ones I like.

You forgot this guy, one of the very few cards I can say makes me explodes in my pants.



Also, it looks like the Tower Zenith will be a line. Green looks for a creature with X in your deck and slaps it on the field. The tower then shuffles back into your deck. I like it, hopefully the black one is something more interesting then discarding or losing life. Same old same old : /

Yeah, the Flash Myr will be one of the cards I'll be aiming for at the pre-release. Thrun seems like a better GSS, I can see him in a lot of sideboards to be pulled out against Fairies or control decks. He also might be a good addition to my normal Big Deck.

This card is insane, I'm going to have to get one for my artifact Big Deck. The new Sphinx is also fantastic, a 4/6 flier for six that lets you double-Mind's Eye? This whole set is just sick...

normally i don't go all Jim on new cards...

but yea, that double Mind's Eye flyer is pretty sick.
