Big Deck Poll 2: Respawn?
should we institute the Respawn rules?

i think Dan is absolutely correct. it will allow us to be more aggressive and more willing to take someone out.
what will happen is everyone will agree beforehand when the game will end. then scores are tallied and it's over.
Respawn is exactly like a normal Free-for-All multiplayer game, except:
You can join the game at any time, picking a deck and a chair.
If you've been eliminated, you can rejoin the game (usually in the same chair), with the same deck or a different deck, immediately or later.
When you join or rejoin the game, you resolve any mulligans and immediately take three turns. During those three turns, you're in a "new player bubble"—basically, a separate solitaire game of Magic. Nothing you do inside the bubble affects players outside the bubble (or in a different bubble), and vice versa. You fully enter the game when you start your fourth turn in regular turn order.
If you want to keep score, here's Abe's system:
Gain 1 point each time you kill an opponent.
Lose 1 point each time you die.
If you voluntarily leave the game, lose 1 point. The last player to damage you, if any, gains 1 point.
The player with the most points at the end of the night wins.

I do like this, as we tend to leave potentially dangerous players in the game so they won't feel left out (well, I do anyway), and we tend to not knock players out early on because then they have to wait to get back in the game. This could make the games a little more aggressive without the drawback of someone waiting on the sidelines for an hour or so.

Re: Big Deck Poll 2: Respawn?
Might want to extend the amount of turns a respawn person gets depending on the state of the game; 3 turns might not be enough if we've been playing for 1 an hour or more. Also, we can just skip over people if we need to if they can't get respawned in time, just give them an extra turn and then pick them up when the turn finally reaches them and they are ready.
Re: Big Deck Poll 2: Respawn?
sounds good to me. we'll use discretion as to how many turns one gets. if someone doesn't get knocked out until everyone else has like twenty lands in play, they'll get five turns or something.

I say yes, but maybe not all the time.

yea, it wouldn't be applicable in duals, or in games where we're playing for a short time. we just want to avoid someone sitting around for an hour and a half. (like me on Friday lol)

Yeah, I hate seeing people get killed and stuck sitting around waiting for a new game or to leave. Almost as much as when it happens to me.

Re: Big Deck Poll 2: Respawn?
After last night, we might want to consider a forced game respawn, where all players respawn at once and basically clear the board. There would be no penalty or points associated with this respawn, it'd be a basic restart of the game for all players.
I'm suggesting this after the first round of Big Deck last night, where one player was basically able to lock down the game and gain such a dominant position that other players could not win.
A majority of players would need to agree to the forced respawn to for it to take place.

So there was a lock, but no win condition? That seems rare.

Re: Big Deck Poll 2: Respawn?
You were also drawing about 5 extra cards a turn, were playing everything as flash, and tutoring every turn...
But yeah, I think sometimes it'd be better if everyone just shuffled up and started fresh, keeps the game from being un-fun.

Re: Big Deck Poll 2: Respawn?
With respawn available, most people should be more aggressive to knock others out of the game. If everyone is going after everyone else, no one should gain such a dominant position. Some of you guys just have to learn when someone is a threat, when they are dead on the table, and when they are just playing possum and ready to explode out of no where. There should never be a forced respawn of anyone. If someone gains a dominant advantage, they just strait up win. If you can control multiple people while everyone is respawning, great for you, and boo all the other players who let you get to that point.
