Big Deck Poll 1: Un-cards?

should we allow (only) one Un card? it would have to be any of the following:

fun
allow for more interactions
goofy
no fractions
not degenerate

there is no banned list, but it'll be obvious which ones are out. your Un card would have to be agreed upon by everyone.

examples include:
Strategy, Schmategy
Censorship
Checks and Balances
Mirror Mirror
Ladies' Knight
Cheatyface
Booster Tutor (the best tutor, cause it doesn't search your library!)
Blast from the Past
My First Tome
Water Gun Balloon Game

I'm saying no, but that's because I really don't like un-cards. If a majority of people want them, and we can agree on what cards to run, that would be fine. Just make sure there's no fractions!

and no repeatable coin flips/die rolls.

I'm pro-Un as there are some cards in those sets that are fun, not insanely broken, and rarely get a chance to be used due to being Un.
I wouldn't mind being able to run Blast from the Past, Strategy, Schmategy, Goblin Tutor, Giant Fan, Jack-in-the-Mox, Infernal Spawn of Evil (though Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn... should be out), Uktabi Kong, or Who/What/Where/When/Why.

I like the idea, but NO CHEATYFACE! I can see Cheatyface just changing the dynamic of the game to never looking away from the Cheatyface player.

Agreed. Cheatyface is just lame...

see, that card is so innocuous and normal, even though the card could never be made in normal Magic. i approve.

I'd like mine to be Once More With Feeling. Is that too obnoxious?

I don't see too much wrong with Once More With Feeling. Admittedly, it would be a bit of an annoyance late in a game, but there's tons of things that fall into that category.

Out of curiosity, what's your next choice if Once More With Feeling is out?

My bigger concern with Once More With Feeling is that it's absolutely broken. "I'll suspend Greater Gargadon and Aeon Chronicler, then remove all cards from the game, shuffle up, get 7 new ones, reset to 10, and proceed to smash each of you." You guys know how much I like global resets.

But I think Gargadon is the only thing I have with suspend, meaning it's the only way to abuse it. And it's not much worse than a Gargadon followed by a Jokulhaups. Plus, there's that little fact that it costs WWWW to play.

Other choices include Checks and Balances or Strategy Smategy (did I trade that to you?).

I got no problem with it, we haven't banned Sway of the Stars yet either.

Also, the situations you described are possible but seem pretty unlikely. It's still possible to do stuff like this using mass-removal issues like the aforementioned evil red card (which I refuse to name) and Catastrophe.

If it becomes really obnoxious we can always ban it later.

I hate Un-Cards, but I'm really tempted to add AWOL to my deck.

Jim's right about Sway of the Stars and things like Jokulhaups. You could do the same evil things with those, so it's not that big a deal. I mean Sway with a suspended Gargadon would generally instantly kill one person, and likely take out most everyone else in short order. Yet no one has done it or even tried it.
To me, Once More looks like a board reset. A little bit more extreme than most, and with a little more potential to backbreaking stuff, but it's still just a reset. I say it's fine. If it turns out not to be, we'll deal with it then.

Checks and Balances looks like it could provide some fun political situations. I'd be a little concerned about potential slowdown issues from having to 'check' every spell, but that probably won't be as much of an issue as I think it might be. Probably one of those things we'd have to try out sometime and see how it goes.
