5/7 - NPH Prerelease

I'll be going to the (last) big prerelease in Center City on Saturday. I plan on getting there very early and scouring the rare bins before I jump into a flight.

I'll try to make it down for the first few flights, anyone know when they start?

But seriously, couldn't you go down and not identify yourself, or say you are a new player without a DC number?

While he could theoretically do that, odds are someone would recognize him, which wouldn't go over well. Plus, doing that would, as far as I know, qualify as fraud under DCI rules and could lead to suspension and what not.

Do you think they only asked him to leave last time after he gave his name? John's a well-known player. If the TO didn't recognize him, about 20 people at the event would.

It's best to be on the up and up, since (as will hopefully be proven) he didn't do anything wrong in the first place.

For posterity, I thought I'd post my deck from yesterday. I went 3-0-1 and won the casual game played in the last round.

I've been meaning to do this for a while: post my deck from the prerelease and then go back when I know the format better and see if there was anything I could have done better.

I'd do that too, but I always end up ripping the deck apart before I think of writing up the list of it.
Wouldn't it help to list the rest of your pool, so when looking back later, you know what you could have used but didn't?

Yes yes... that would just take so much more time. At least I can say "why did I think it was a good idea to play THAT?!?"

Hmm... makes sense, I suppose. Though I'm betting atleast one of those "why did I play that?" thoughts will be covered by there being nothing better to choose from.

I should write this down, me being right doesn't happen often.

But yeah, it's way too much effort to bother listing everything. I couldn't do that right now if I wanted to, since my sealed pools are already mixed in with the opened packs that were a result of prizes.

I was able to play 5 of my 6 rares, and i had 2 bombs in Karn and Life's Finale, bit overall i was lacking what i needed to really dominate with this deck.

Lost a close game 3 in match 1, a possible play mistake probably cost me the win.
I had a shrine of loyal legions with 1 counter on it i could have sac'ed at his EOT and got in for just enough on the next turn -i think.

Romped match 2, still having not drawn or played Karn or the Finale yet.

Match 3 my opponent had a grip of lifegain. The mana artifact that gains as well as 2 of the suture priests. i must have dealt 30 damage game 1 but still lost. Game 2 i won on the back of a well timed Finale and then dropped Karn. We ran out of time so it ended in a draw.

Match 4 i romped.

I dropped before game 5 started.

I experimented with a few cards i wasnt sure about. Slash Panther was a pain on my ass. Once i drew him late in a winnable game but i was at 3 life and my opponent had a perilous myr in play so that was a no go. He would have won me the game with the hasted 4 damage.
I had 2 counters i sided in if they had a late game bomb that worried me. I had an instill infection i maybe should have maindecked and a 2nd perilous myr i sided in if they had an aggro start.
I got beat by Scrapdriver Serpent twice in match 1 so i tried playing with him but im just not sold on him.

i was extremely tempted to splash the arrest as i had a seachrome coast and a white mana myr but i declined to do so.
also tempting was splashing 2 mountains and running the Galvanic Blast and/or Artillerize.
