So much Jund!

How decks built to beat Jund didnt stop Jund from having an all Jund final is beyond me.
I guess it really truly is the deck to beat right now.
Only 1 person played Cruel control, thats also surprising.

I guess the new "talked about" deck is the U/W control deck pilote by Chapin and a few teammates.
Runs Jace, the mana artifact, treasure hunt, 1 iona, and 30 lands.

Well, remember that part of being the deck to beat is being the most popular deck. So if, in an event of 600 attendees (just for instance), 200 play the very good deck Jund, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in t8. If 5 players piloted far superior deck X, I wouldn't be surprised to see none of them in t8.

I think I read on magic.tcgplayer.com that U/W control's win percentage was 76%. But so few people played it, that they were all eliminated.

I really want to build one now, seems like an awesome deck to play, though getting my hands on 4x Jace the Mind Sculptor could be tough. I'm just going to proxy out Chaplin's build for now and see what happens.

I think I'd rather proxy Buster Keaton's build.

Chapin, not Chaplin.

LOL. Only play Pat's deck if you like to grind out games and are patient when you play Magic. If you want to look at another controlling deck, check out Charles Gendry DuPont's deck...I think it is really neat, and he said it was about 90% awesome, so there is room for some tweaking.

I'm actually working on a T2 UW mill at the moment, since i just got my playset of Archive traps. I'm not sure what path to take though, the turbo-fog form of the Jacerator decks, Plan B Mill, or maybe just a removal heavy UB deck that slowly grinds an opponent out via Archive Trap, Hedorn Crab, and a shit-ton of board-wipes and removal.

Dave from AU ran a very interesting UB control deck at the Saturday 5k yesterday, 4x Judgements, 4x Martial Coup, 4x Paths, and some acceleration. Basically killed any threat and ramped out to BSA or Iona. I could work something similar with the Mill deck, or so I've been thinking. Format seems pretty open at the moment for some interest decks that still stick to an established archetype (UB Control, Jund, Vamps, etc).

Maybe something like this?

Creatures: 6
4x Hedron Crab
2x Wall of Denial

Artifacts: 4
4x Everflowing Chalice

Spells: 21
4x Archive Trap
2x Mind Sping
4x Treasure Hunt
3x Day of Judgement
2x Martial Coup
4x Path into Exile
2x Oblivion Ring

Planeswalkers: 3
3x Jace the Mind Sculptor

Lands: 26
4x Celestial Colonnade
4x Halimar Depths
4x Tectonic Edge
2x Arid Mesa
4x Misty Rainforest
4x Plains
6x Island

Corrected, and now with a sorta deck list I threw together based on what Dan was playing yesterday and shoe-horned in some mill-cards. Kind of a rough idea, but with UW control being so grindingly slow I'm wondering if a mill version could be possible. Delaying things out to hard-cast Iona seems just a bit nuts to me.

Of course I could just build the regular UW control deck as well, but it's fun to experiment!

Edit: Also possibly pondering UG mil (and saving my good UW cards for a real standard deck)l, seems to be a couple varieties of that floating around at the moment. I feel kind of bad though, I keep building and tearing apart these shitty T2 decks and then posting all about them. i just need to find a good decklist online and copy it!
