I've been getting an urge to playtest some of the common decks in various constructed formats, but I find that it's hard to find players who have the decks, and who have the time to get together and test them out. And the idea of purchasing virtual cards via MTGO is still unappealling to me.

Does anyone have interest in installing Magic Workstation on their computer and setting up some time to playtest the gauntlet of constructed decks in various formats (standard, extended, and legacy for starters)? It's clunky shareware, but it is functional and it is free. It saves the trouble of trying to get together when we live relatively far apart.

You can find details at www.magicworkstation.com. You have to install the program as well as the unfortunately named "masterbase," which contains all the cards ever printed. From there, you build a deck, find someone's IP address, and play. Or you can just goldfish. Each time a new set comes out, you have to go through the process of updating the masterbase, but there are usually instructions online.

What, James, no Parallels?

I do run a dual boot, so it's not a problem for me. If you're interested, I may be able to set you up with a dual boot with windows. Probably not that interested; Microsoft Fascists...

I am not completely ignorant to technology, however, i admit to being undeniably in the dark when it comes to mixing MS things with Apple things.

I am definitely interesting in knowing more.

If you're running a more recent OS on your mac, you should have Boot Camp as an option (lets you restart into windows). The trick is, you have to have a CD for windows to make it happen.

If you have Boot Camp we can discuss means for you to obtain a CD of windows (perhaps in person).

i have a mac wiz friend, she used to work in the genius bar in NYC, ill discuss it with her, although i'll have to suck up to the ridicule that will follow me asking her to set up boot camp and windows so that i may practice mtg on my computer Laughing
