8/26 - Magic at Dan's
I'm just checking to see if anyone's interested in hanging out at KC's on Wednesday night to play some Magic. Normal time, around 7pm, either Multiplayer Chaos or Big Deck, and of course a couple-rounds of beer. Let me know if anyone else wants to come.
Edit: Dan's place it is, provided he doesn't mind us showing up.

yea, i think we're going to Dan's. James might be there and we were probably gonna play his pauper cube.

Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
Dan's place sounds cool to me, as long as I can get directions that don't involve taking I-76. What time, and should I bring anything (like... BEER!)?
Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
Dan i need directions again by train, sorry i lost the first ones you gave me.

Address/Directions
I'm at:
311 E. Pleasant St.
Philadelphia, PA 19119
People usually get here by 6:30-7:00. If you need to get here earlier, that's fine, though I get home around 5:45. I am well stocked with beer (thanks Steve, though I have sampled a few since when we last met... ) and I even have some snacks, though if there's anything you want to bring, by all means.
Jim, if you're coming from the King of Prussia area and want to avoid 76, there's a couple of options (keeping in mind, I haven't made this trip at rush hour before):
Google Maps recommends the Turnpike to Germantown Pike, which takes you right there (albeit via the windy Germantown Ave...):
Route 1
You can also take 23 to Joshua Rd, up to Stenton and come in the back way. A little more circuitous, but potentially less trafficky:
Route 2
Finally, you can take 23 all the way to the Gladwynne exit of 76, and then jump on 76 just long enough to get to Lincoln Drive and take that all the way up:
Route 3
Those are your best options from the dreaded King of Prussia...
James, as for coming by train, it's pretty easy:
Take the R7 Chestnut Hill East to the Stenton station
When you get off the train, go to your right down the hill, and turn right, under the underpass (Vernon Rd.)
Turn right on Sprague
Turn left on Pleasant
I'm at 311, on the right.

Sounds like we're getting a good turnout for Wednesday... exciting! Looking forward to playing with James's cube!

Snag
So I just spoke with Katie, who reminded me that her organization is holding a fund raiser at a local restaurant, Earth Bread Brewery tomorrow evening; I had completely forgotten about it. My profuse apologies to you guys, but I had already told her I would come out and support her.
So here are some alternative options I'd like to throw out there.
1. You can always fall back to KC's, though that is closer for everyone except James .
2. It's also possible for me to let you guys into my house, then head over there for about an hour, before heading back and finishing up playing. I could even work it so I draft a deck in the first place with you guys, then head over to the restaurant (a 5 minute bike ride) while you play some duels/multiplayer, then come back and play in a few games with the deck I had drafted earlier. As long as you feel comfortable hanging out in my house, I'm fine with giving a space to play (especially one with beer and snacks).
3. Postpone for another week.
I feel terrible that I double-booked this, but it's something where it's important for me to be there for her. Let me know what you think would work best.

Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
it seems like we rarely get our "fill" of cube games as it is, so im fine with drafting with you and then playing each other till you get back.
we could also winston or winchester for fun without you then abandon that for a real cube on your return.
or, if people would prefer KC's, im ok with that as im more familiar with that route anyway.
everyone just decide before 5pm tomorrow please

Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
I'd be happy to be at KC's, or we can go to my place if people don't want to spend money at the bar. I'd feel kind of weird just crashing at Dan's place while he's out, but I'll agree to whatever works out for all.
Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
not spending money is a better option for me for sure.
i also need to be back in the city by 10, 1030 or so, fwiw

Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
i can only check this once or twice today before 5 so i really need everyone to weigh in and decide what to do.
My first choice would be to keep it at Dan's since he said he wouldnt mind and it would be close to his double booking so he could still play after.
Second choice would be anywhere we all agree on that i dont have to spend money and i can reach it by train.

Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
Glad you all could make it, though I missed some of the action when I stepped out.
So my deck...
First, I'll readily admit that almost everybody I played against got mana screwed at some point.
That said, wow... 6 counters, the best blue fliers, some crazy bounce, stupid card draw, and a common wrath effect. Oh, and a 3rd pick Sol Ring (had to jab that in there).
Some of the greatest hits:
Force of Will
Mana Leak
Hinder
Dissipate
Forbid
Rewind
Jetting Glasskite
Errant Ephemeron
Faerie Conclave
Theiving Magpie
Riftwing Cloudskate
Man-o-War
Repulse
Fathom Seer
Impulse
Brainstorm
Fade Away
Basically, if you didn't win by turn 5, you had an uphill battle. Since I played a lot of mana screwed/flooded players, that made a lot of uphill battles.
Incidentally, only 5 of those cards aren't in my Cube (which I'll apologize for calling the "real cube" ).
Nice Big-Decking too. I'll really really try to get one together.
Thanks again James for coming and showing us what you've been hiding away. All of us were really impressed. (was that blatant enough?)

Re: 8/26 - Magic at Dan's
haha Dan, you dont have to kiss my cubes butt, it knows its awesome
But thank you, it was fun. I obviously need to learn how to draft my own cubea ltho i had a bad mana day for sure yesterday.
Some of you should come down to the city sometime for a little Winston or Winchester of the cube at my crib
(note to self, post winchester draft rules)
I got a small place, but should be able to do 2 to 4 players ok.
Glad everyone seemed to enjoy it, i HAVE worked hard on it.
