Re: Introduce yourself
I'll start.
My name is:
Dan
I live in:
Philadelphia. Mt Airy to be specific.
I have been playing Magic since:
1993, when Ian Taub bought a deck and introduced it to our Vampire: The Masquerade playgroup. I bought 4 starter decks of Unlimited, opening such winners as Farmstead, Twiddle, and 3 Verduran Enchantresses.
My favorite formats are:
My favorite sanctioned format is draft, though I occasionally get the cards together for Standard or Legacy. Cube is by far my favorite format, which is essentially a draft variant with the most powerful cards in the game. Our multiplayer Big Deck games are pretty awesome, though as much as I try, I can't quite get into EDH.
My proudest Magic accomplishment is:
I played B/W Tokens at States in 2008, which may not seem exciting, but the deck didn't start seeing play until early 2009. So, in essence, I was playing it before it was cool. C'mon guys, back me up on this one!
My most shameful Magic a-non-plishment is:
When I bought my 4 starter decks of Unlimited, I opened a Timetwister. Which I traded for a Time Vault (back then, a very bad deal). Which I traded for an All Hallows Eve and a Wildfire (back then, not quite as bad a deal). I traded the All Hallows Eve for something else that remains in my binder that I desperately hope someone will trade from me some day so I can erase the stain of owning and losing a piece of power from my memory.
Besides Magic, I like:
Free flash games (Mateusz Skutnik), accordion, good beer.
I resent filling in this questionnaire because:
I created it, so I feel like I'm just pandering to myself.
One last thing I'd like to add is:
I manage the forums here with an aluminum foil fist!
Also, I'm going to be really embarrassed if I'm the only person who fills this stupid thing out.

Re: Introduce yourself
My name is:
Steve
I live in:
West Chester, PA
I have been playing Magic since:
1995? i dunno, Fourth Edition had just come out and i was having fun with Balance and Rebirth.
My favorite formats are:
draft and Big Deck
My proudest Magic accomplishment is:
1) Willbending a Chandra Nalaar ultimate
2) griefing a seasoned Standard player with a common/uncommon only affinity deck (vs. Death Cloud) in 2004
3) first place in Champions of Kamigawa prerelease
4) getting to a comfortable level of skill in booster draft
My most shameful Magic a-non-plishment is:
1) losing as Archenemy every time
2) spending money at Alternate Universes (never again)
3) griefing Jim on his mispronunciations
Besides Magic, I like:
music, beer, grilling, history
I resent filling in this questionnaire because:
Dan makes up words like "a-non-plishment"
One last thing I'd like to add is:
maybe there was a Broodstar in that affinity deck...

Re: Introduce yourself
My name is:
Lex
I live in:
Well currently Baltimore but I will be moving to Philadelphia [Fishtown] on August 2nd.
I have been playing Magic since:
July 2010, so about a year.
My favorite formats are:
Standard or draft... plain and boring
My proudest Magic accomplishment is:
Oh dear, I'm not sure. Maybe winning against my friend's blue-black deck. He only pulls it out for revenge... hell I almost beat his dragon deck too. [apparently blue level-up makes him rage hard.]
My most shameful Magic a-non-plishment is:
Every time I win using infect. x.x
Besides Magic, I like:
books, video games, robotics, food, history
I resent filling in this questionnaire because:
I really don't resent it... maybe a bit because posting in old threads make me feel like I'm necro'ing them. [despite this being a intro thread...]
One last thing I'd like to add is:
Nothing really, just looking for people that are familiar with the MTG "scene" in Philly given I'm leaving my friends back in Maryland. [though if I could pack them into a suitcase and bring them I would!]

Re: Introduce yourself
My name is: Michael McGlade
I live in: Ambler, PA
I have been playing Magic since: I tell people Torment, because it's the set I have bought the most of, but it was right around Scourge before Mirrodin came out.
My favorite formats are: Paupers, Peasent, Poor Mans, Big Deck. I'm into casual stuff.
My proudest Magic accomplishment is: Winning the Guildpact prerelease. Only time I ever won a tournament; was 2HG and me and my buddy. I remember running WB with two Pontiff's, a Angel of Despair, and recursion. Was probably the most fun I ever had playing at a prerelease or any event for that matter.
My most shameful Magic a-non-plishment is: Doesn't really bug me, but I got thrown out of the Dissension prerelease. Was accused of cheating and stealing and got in a fight with one of the judges. Was escorted out by cops, yeah WTF..., and the judge told me I was banned from Magic events. Went back there for the Coldsnap prerelease and when I saw her I stuck my tongue out at her.
Besides Magic, I like: Star Wars Miniatures, WoW TCG (not enough players though), video games, TV, sleeping, music, ... I got nothing ... Doesn't take much to keep me happy
I resent filling in this questionnaire because: I don't.
One last thing I'd like to add is: Hi.

Re: Introduce yourself
My name is:
Dave
I live in:
Center City
I have been playing Magic since:
I got my first pack in 1995ish (Ice Age and 5th ed), took a long break after torment and started up off and on when I was attending Undergrad (around Kamigawa)
My favorite formats are:
I'm pretty casual. For the past few months I was really into commander, now that innis is released I have been making a lot of horror themed standard decks. I will pretty much play whatever format as long as it is fun.
My proudest Magic accomplishment is:
Dealing over 1 million damage in one turn using only saprolings made from Fallen Empires thallids.
My most shameful Magic a-non-plishment is:
Quitting after torment
Besides Magic, I like:
I am currently getting my doctoral degree so I don't have a lot of time to do things I like, but if I had to choose though I would say video games.
I resent filling in this questionnaire because:
I don't resent it, by filling this out I have avoided working on my dissertation... HUZZAH!
One last thing I'd like to add is:
If anyone is looking for someone to play magic with in the city count me in!

Re: Introduce yourself
My name is:
Stephen
I live in:
Belmont, West Philly
I have been playing Magic since:
I've been playing Magic off and on (mostly off sadly) for the past ten years.
My favorite formats are:
I really have no clue. I not really familiar with official formats since I've mainly played with very few freinds who may dabble in Magic but never really at a store or in events.
My proudest Magic accomplishment is:
I don't always lose.
My most shameful Magic a-non-plishment is:
I almost always lose.
Besides Magic, I like:
Video Games, Anime, Writing, Martial Arts, Fencing, Fantasy/SciFi
I resent filling in this questionnaire because:
I don't, It's really quite handy!
One last thing I'd like to add is:
I'm hoping to be able to learn more about the game and actually find people I can play at least semi-regularly with.
