Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
Allies would be the obvious suggestion, but I'm assuming you avoided those for a reason.
Since you have Clone and Vesuvan Shapeshifter in there, why not the Doppleganger?
Cloudstone Curio and Minion Reflector seem like good ideas. As does anything with Evoke. Cauldron Haze and Cauldron of Souls could also be good.
Perhaps an odd and annoying suggestion for a Big Deck, but if you're going to be very heavy on permanents, what about Warp World?

Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
most of the good evoke guys are in there... and i think i'll keep the persist shenanigans to the +1/+1 counter Big Deck.
Cloudstone Curio is perfect!
Minion Reflector too!
i'll stick Warp World in there for s&g's... but i expect it will have greater effect in Dan's upcoming tokens Big Deck.
that's the kind of thinking i need.

Dan's going to be doing a token one? Dagnabbit. I was half starting to kick around that idea after I saw your idea for the +1/+1 counter one.
Why not also look into effects that trigger when a creature comes into play, since you're already going for a lot of that. Stuff like Pandemonium. Kinda doubling the bang for your buck.
Edit: It just hit me, reanimation effects. Especially mass or repeatable ones like Living Death or Recurring Nightmare.

Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
Indeed, Brandon, I have the schematics sketched out. I ONLY want to play it so I can Mass Polymorph with 30 tokens on the board.
Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
attention! just for when i bust it out and you are confused:
Oubliette works exactly like Journey to Nowhere, except Auras and counters stay and it comes back tapped.

HOLY SHIT IT'S DONE
now before you get all high'n'mighty on how big it is (some of you are borderline offended ... Daaaaaaan), i do have my reasons.
now. does anyone have 4 packs of penny sleeves for tomorrow?!

- i want to play with as many different cards as possible. i'm sick of seeing the same cards all the time in a 250 card deck... i need variety! some of these i've never even played with.
- i will be whittling it down as i find out what works and what doesn't. gotta try first!

Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
Not offended, just more bemused. In the format created to play with outlandishly large decks, you're lamenting the lack of variety of cards. Where does it end?
Maybe EDH should have 2 generals from now on. Anyone up for a game of Seven-Headed Giant?
Seriously, though, as long as you're enjoying the deck, it doesn't bother me at all. It will make it that much easier for me to land a Pestermite + Splinter Twin.
Actually, even if you're not enjoying the deck, it doesn't bother me.

Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
you know as well as i, that winning really isn't the most fun thing to do in this format. it's winning or losing or playing in a spectacular way. i think this deck has the makings of some pretty insane plays. i even have your Pestermite/Splinter Twin combo!
i don't need Big Deck to be consistent or streamlined. just fun. sorry, it's a Timmy mentality that i never shook.

Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
I'm with you. Consistency happens to be one of the things that I find fun about the game.

PLAYTEST UPDATE: HELLA FUN
i lost to RTFC (Hazezon Tamar) but i had an everlasting Sun Titan with Voyager Staff, as well as a boatload of other blink shenanigans.
i could have blinked out Mr. Tamar to dismiss his 12 17/17 buddies, instead of whatever i tried to do. here's the Oracle text of Hazezon for my future reference (with important parts bolded).
can't wait to play some more!

- Spoiler:
- When Hazezon Tamar enters the battlefield, put X 1/1 Sand Warrior creature tokens that are red, green, and white onto the battlefield at the beginning of your next upkeep, where X is the number of lands you control at that time.
When Hazezon leaves the battlefield, exile all Sand Warriors.
10/1/2009 When Hazezon Tamar's second ability resolves, all permanents with both the Sand and Warrior creature types are exiled, not just the Sand Warrior creature tokens it created. Permanents that have just one of those types are unaffected.
10/1/2009 The first ability creates a delayed triggered ability that triggers at the beginning of your next upkeep. It doesn't matter who controls Hazezon Tamar at that time, or even if it's on the battlefield. The player who put Hazezon onto the battlefield gets the Sand Warriors.
10/1/2009 Only Sand Warriors that are actually on the battlefield when Hazezon Tamar leaves the battlefield are affected when its second ability resolves. If Hazezon leaves the battlefield after the delayed triggered ability created by its first ability triggers but before that ability resolves, its second ability triggers and resolves first, then the Sand Warriors are put on the battlefield. Those Sand Warriors will remain on the battlefield indefinitely.
can't wait to play some more!
Re: BIG DECK - EtB creatures
I made sure to mention atleast once that Mr. Tamar takes his homies with him when he goes. The fun of playing old cards people don't know.
That reminds me, I need to keep some notes with that deck. Such as detailing significant Oracle changes to cards (mainly creature types), and perhaps the text of any foreign cards in the deck.

oh i know. i played like a total dummy.
he's a liability after the tokens come into play. you should find some way to get rid of him before the delayed trigger brings those lil sandcastles into play.
i wish there were more blink effects (and Flicker doesn't cut it).
