4/11 - Bad Beats
Last night at Redcap's, I drafted a GR monstrosity that was lacking some direction. The Worldwake pack made up for some of my jankiness with an Omnath and 2 Searing Blaze, but I was unsure how it would go.
I won round 1 against an opponent who didn't quite know what he was doing. Things like Quest for Ancient Secrets, and a Thada Adel that he opted not to search my library (aka, forgot) after hitting (which I later learned is an illegal play, since the search is mandatory).
Round 2 I played a white and blue deck with some fast flyers, including Living Tsunami/Halimar Depths, and 2 Perimeter Captains. I won game 1 barely with Omnath, Crusher Zendikon, and Bladetusk Boar. Game 2 I succumbed to 2 Windrider Eel, Living Tsunami, and Halimar Depths. In Game 3 I made a critical misplay in forgetting that Searing Blaze does not read "Deal 3 damage to a creature and 3 to an opponent." There's that whole landfall thing too. It didn't help that my opponent was a bit too exhuberant about my misplay, or that his friend sitting next to him did a facepalm. I ended up one turn behind, and lost the turn before I would have won with a trusty machete on a Bladetusk Boar to his team bolstered by a kicked Bold Defence.
I'm going through the effort of getting over my misplay, but the whole thing kinda shook me.

Re: 4/11 - Bad Beats
Sorry dude, I'm more than familiar with the beat-yourself-up-over-a-mess-up-play, and it doesn't help that his peanut gallery was getting involved. Just don't let it eat you up for more than 24-hours.
Besides, pre-release this weekend, just use this as fuel for your rage!
