Grand Prix Tampa

Look for me at the tournament center of magicthegathering.com tomorrow (if they post the standings for GP's). I have no idea how many people are coming, but anyone want to take a shot at what my final standing is going to be?

I'm going to guess 437. First number to come to mind. Well, first serious number anyway.

not playing after all. I really came mostly to get a mox, as im not really prepared to sealed deck, and the event is $40. Traded for the chrome mox as soon as I got here. Now to trade and play in side events.

why the hell is it 40 bucks? Is that the new standard for sealed events?

No idea why, but there it was.

Had a great time. I was only able to pick up 2 Maze of Ith before the sold out, sadly (and Anthony got dibs on the second one). The artists were really nice too.

Traded for a boatload of foils. Not always well, but I am coming home with a lot of them.

2-0-1'd a draft (split in the finals). We even played out 2 games, and each won one. I had a nasty little black/green deck with great removal, recursion, and aggro elements (plus 2 grazing gladehart). I successfully outraced a (practically) mono red deck. My opponent in the finals was living the dream: 3 hedron crab, archive trap, 3 disfigure, 2 hideous end. Basically, if I didn't win by turn 6 or 7, I would run out of cards.

During the draft, I also opened and kept a Misty Rainforest and a Goblin Guide. Almost made up for some of the shitty trades I made.

Saw a few Magic celebs and met a few nice people. Overall, a great time, though kinda far to travel. Anyway, I got to have sushi dinner with my friend Margaret, so that was nice too.

Philly to Tampa
