2/22 - C&M Draft

i will indeed be there tonight! i can also vouch for John O who told me yesterday he would be coming.

I called out of work sick today, and I pretty much feel like crap at the moment. Still, I'll try to be there if I feel any better.

Seems I didn't make it today. I'll try for next week.

six cards from the library is a lot! i really should have TAKEN and USED it to great effect, and not roll over to it. especially when i'm in UB and have no way to deal with it once it's on the 'field.

Outside that your deck was pretty sick, 3x Spread the Sickness is really mean.

In all honesty I don't see how you can people can pass that card, since it's only of the few forms of guaranteed removal in the format outside Go for the Throat, which is also black. I was UG on Tuesday and I ended up splashing B and R just to have some removal (Spread the Sickness and Red-Sun Zenith).

it's funny you say that, cause i see Spread the Sickness ALL THE TIME, and have never once seen a Go For The Throat. granted, the latter is uncommon, but StS hits everything, and furthers the infect agenda, and bumps up your charge counters. i guess there's really little comparison, but i should not see as many of them as i do. I passed a fourth one too.

I'll take Go For the Throat all day over Spread the Sickness. Being poison-y may make a difference, but I like my 2 mana instants over 5 mana sorceries.

well, yea, me too. i thought that was apparent. as i haven't seen one, i haven't tried it yet.

i never rely on uncommons when thinking about a draft; the meat of drafting is found in the commons. there were other people at the table in black, and they definitely took other stuff over this quality removal spell. an 8th pick StS is unforgivable in a 6 man pod.

maybe people don't like black in MBS? i can hardly fathom why though.

Black is the only color that has guaranteed removal (outside rares like RSZ) in this format, so I would figure it would be the most popular. I always try to play some black anymore, just to make sure I can get removal spells.
