Shandalar Returns!
Yesterday I found this:
http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2349&sid=ad1e74c7114cdd07bbc988c934d0a88d
It's basically a link to the torrent that downloads a fully updated and Windows XP, Vista, 7 compatible version of the original Microprose MTG game. I took the liberty of getting it and burning it to cd, so if anyone wants it, let me know.
You can play either a regular dual against the computer (or an online opponent), or you can play the best format ever: Shandalar! It's like an RPG where you slowly build your collection, taking on stronger and stronger opponents.
It uses pre 6th edition rules (the Shandalar part anyway; I haven't tried the dual yet) so there are some weird things to watch out for (wait, when I tap a blocker, he doesn't deal damage???), but the game is pretty cool. I was up much too late last night playing.
Sure, you kids with your X-Station and Nintendo Dreamcasts have your own version, but I have yet to see any software match the awesomeness of Shandalar.
Like I said, I already downloaded it and burned it to cd. If anyone wants one, let me know and I'll toss you a copy next time I see you.

Re: Shandalar Returns!
I don't know if they've added cards for the main part of the game (the screenshot shows a bonesplitter sliver), but you'll at least like that they added multiple arts for each of the cards. So you might get counterspelled 7th edition style.
And yes, this is a problem...

Heard of this, but was never luckily enough to have played it when it first came out. Will have to give it a look.

Re: Shandalar Returns!
It's official... I just built a sliver deck that beat the pants off the stupid computer. This is officially awesome!
Re: Shandalar Returns!
Okay, I torrented this and all I got was a file that opens up my CD Burner. I read the read me and I am a bit confused.
Do I burn this to a disc and then install it from the CD I burn it on?

Re: Shandalar Returns!
Yes. It downloaded the iso (cd image). I suppose you could run it with an application, but I haven't figured that out. Just burn it.
