Where to on 7/24?

Just checking to see where we're all going to end up on the 24th? Are we going back to Alternate Universe, or do we want to try somewhere else? I had a good time at UA last week, but the huge number of people playing and the limited prize support (basically you need to go undefeated in the first two rounds and then split the 3rd to get anything) kind of bug me a bit. Still, I'd be willing to go back, but I'd figured I'd see what everyone else wants to do first.

That's actually the standard payout for drafts. Dimension was the only place I had ever gone where nobody drew in the finals. And I've never seen another store pay out to top 4 (or 5 in a 10 man draft).

My only issue with Universos Alternitavos (UA) was that the draft started 45 minutes late, and each round went to 20 minutes beyond time. Is this normal, John?

My other issue is that it's 45 minutes from my house, but that's my problem.

yea, this sucks. Redcap's is 45 minutes away from my place, AU is 45 away from Dan's, Cyborg One is far away from everybody, and Brave New Worlds probably still sucks dick. but we could try the latter if you guys want.

I like(d) BNW, though you'll definitely find the same payout, and people split there in the finals all the time.

I'd be willing to try BNW. I've been there before for other nerd-based needs (comics, ect) and seemed like a decent place. Anyone know where their new location is though, I haven't been there since they moved.

But yeah, splitting the prizes seems kind of weak to me, but if that's normal that's normal. The time-based issue was a major pain though, now that Dan mentions it, it ran really long and really late.

FNM might be Standard, they don't specify. seeing as there are two other drafts during the week, FNM couldn't be another one, could it?

AU and Cyborg 1 are the only FNMs in the area now that do drafts, I think.

looks like AU then. i have the calendar for Cyborg One, and not all of their Friday nights are drafts. i think we have one choice.

I had assumed the time issues on friday were due to the large number of people, and that the large number of people were due to it being a release event. So it's my thinking that things would end up running smoother this friday. But I could be wrong.

The prize thing irks me some, but then I didn't know that was the standard practice. I'll adjust.

Then I guess it's AU for the moment. We should try out Cyborg One if they have a Friday draft at some point, but I guess we'll have to hope things run more smoothly at AU on Friday.

I dont know the crowd for FNM because I was always at Dimensions. When I go for standard on Saturday night, everything runs extremely smoothly and pretty fast. Anything under 18 players has ended before 10pm and I have never stayed longer than 11pm for larger tournaments. The turnout was definately more than expected, even though the owner knew that there would be at least 6 players from Dimensions.

I can go to Brave New Worlds today or tomorrow and ask around about what they do there. Ill let you guys know.
