12/29 - Dan's place?

So being in the academic world, I have off all next week (woo hoo!). Is anyone around on Tuesday for the aforementioned 60 card Vintage multiplayer? I'd be happy to host, and you can tell me what an asshole I am for having off all week.

I was just planning to post to see what was being plotted for this week.

As usual, I'd be around.

i'll be there if my apartment searching tonight goes well. if not i might be doing more searching tomorrow. i'd really like to be there for this; the old land deck needs a little dusting off.

I don't have any new decks to play, but I'll be there with a couple of my old, fun ones. I also might be a bit late due to my new schedule at work.

So it looks like we have Brandon, Jim, and maybe Steve. Do the rideless ones have rides? Any word on the Johns?

If no rides are available, I can meet you at KC's too.

last night's apartment viewings didn't fare as well as hoped. so i have more tonight. sorry, can't make it.

yeah I can be there, just one question, whats vintage, I know someone explained it to me at one time. Can one of you Give me an rough idea, keep it simple, please.

Vintage: Pretty much everything is legal, aside from Un-cards, ante cards, and one or two other oddities. Oh, and some stuff is restricted, but only really ridiculous stuff.

Thanks again, Jim, for hosting at the last second. Good time tonight; got to break out of our standard style multiplayer. The games did go much faster, since once someone achieved dominance, the game was basically over (even for respawn), and we just started anew. As much as I like the randomness of Big Deck, it was nice to have some consistency for a change.

who played what?

just curious what the environment was like.

i tired to build for it, but dont have enough of the same cards to create a theme or any consistancy

I built a Sigil of the Empty Throne deck (really an angel token deck) that only really got running once. One game I thought hilariously, I could speed out a Luminarch Ascension turn 2 and start making angels before anyone could do anything about it. Only Brandon and John O had a creature out, and John's was the 0/3 guy from Conflux. But John dropped an exalted guy and Jim got attackers out fast, which meant I couldn't get my angels until I was at 6 life. I lost that one. Later I accidentally shuffled my land into my deck (later found I shuffled it into the cube that I was sorting at the time) when resolving an Academy Rector. I conceded that one.

I also had a terrible dueling deck based on Turntimber Ranger/Conspiracy. I died fast, but not before I took 3 Bridge from Belows out of John W's graveyard in the Dredge deck he was inexplicably playing aka masturbating with.

Finally, I played my standard Valakut deck, and managed to deal 12 damage per mountain put into play, killing John Wolsky at 15 and Jim at 7 with a Khalni Heart Expedition, after which I ran out of mountains and conceded.

John Wolsky tried to Laquatus' Champion (not Locutus) me while I was at 6 life, but I cracked a Seal of Removal to bounce it to his hand with the trigger on the stack to gain the life back first. Sure I died a turn and a half or so later, but it was fun while it lasted.
