well, it's become painfully obvious to me that several of us have been secretly* planning EDH/Commander decks... so let's hear you guys' ideas!

so the ones i am working on are the following:

Thelon of Havenwood: spore counters, proliferate, Saprolings, sac outlets, and possibly a -1/-1 counter subtheme.
Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer: equipment, double strikers, artifact mana(?)

as i get further in the process, i'll post links to my prospective decklists.

*not really secret, but really without any internal coordination within the group. so i want that to end; let's work together!

I just built Doran, but as with my first big deck, it's a jumble of good cards with a few cards on theme. I'll have it with me next time we play.

Sorry to tell you this, but you can't use Thelon of Havenwood as a general. His ability requires black mana while he is mono-green.

I have (or had) a Radha, Heir to Keld EDH deck which ran tons and tons of R/G ramp to go into Fireball type spells. It also had a really good elf theme going, so I didn't need to rely so heavily on the Fireball going off since i could swing in for a shit ton of damage and Overrun anything.

I've actually taken a big step back from normal EDH since it is way to expensive. I've made a few Poor Man's EDH deck (Any Uncommon is the General, 9 other Uncommons, and 90 commons using highest rarity) and I prefer the format a lot more. I won't need to chase after any Rares or Mythics that are staples for that color, so I save myself from the headache and I save myself the money.

obv. you haven't kept up with Commander.

903.4. The color identity of a deck’s commander is the color or colors of any mana symbols in that card’s mana cost or rules text, plus any colors defined by the its characteristic-defining abilities (see rule 604.3).
Example: Bosh, Iron Golem is a legendary artifact creature with mana cost {8} and the ability “{3}{R}, Sacrifice an artifact: Bosh, Iron Golem deals damage equal to the sacrificed artifact's converted mana cost to target creature or player.” Bosh’s color identity is red.

I was hoping Secret Commanders was a new format you were coming up with, Steve.

No I have not. Ooo ... I like that :3
I had an idea for a deck with Rhys the Exiled and was told how big of an idiot I was by the EDH community because he has B in his rule block.

I'll still stick to Pauper's EDH, but now that I know this it blows the doors wide open for more generals.

I have a Sapling of Colfenor EDH deck, I haven't used it in a long time though and it could probably use some fixing up. I'm also going to be buying the the RBW Commander deck when it comes out since that's my favorite color combination.
