MPR Discontinued

Post  Slyphidine on Mon Nov 15, 2010 8:25 am

Magic Player Rewards have been discontinued. You know, those nice foil and textless promos you get (or don't get) in the mail every month.

It is a shame; I always got excited when I saw that envelope in the mail. Oh well... let's hope they convert it into something better.

Spoiler:
After a rigorous evaluation, Wizards of the Coast has decided to eliminate the Magic Player Rewards Program. It is important to us to provide you, the player, with the best possible Magic: The Gathering experiences. In this case we are redirecting these resources to increase our player support for local organized play programs.
The December 2010 mailing will be the final MPR mailing and will include extra cards in addition to the cards you would have normally received. This mailing will encompass all reported tournament activity through November 15, 2010. We appreciate the dedication of our fans and look forward to providing new and exciting Magic play experiences.

Awwwwww, that sucks! I was, and still am, a terrible player, but at least I knew that playing would net me some cool cards. My last reward was a textless, foil Lightning Bolt which I put in my big deck and it made me so happy to know that I got this sweet card just for playing.

I do hope they add something back in that will be useful to both pros and casual players. I thought this was a good program, but I guess not. : /

Probably just got too expensive to mail out all those cards every few months. Still, kind of sucks, hopefully they'll figure out a new system in the future for players (like me) who don't get FNM promos often.
